    Louisiana Commercial General Contractor Requirements & Application

    The LSLBC regulates commercial, industrial and residential contractors who bid or perform construction projects with a value of:

  • $50,000 or more for commercial and industrial construction
  • In excess of $75,000 for residential construction
  • In excess of $10,000 for mechanical, electrical or plumbing
  • Exceeding $7,500 but not in excess of $75,000 for home improvement
  • $1 or more for mold remediation
  • You must have financial statement with a minimum net worth of $10,000 or a $10,000 Bank line of credit or $10,000 Surety Bond
  • No Insurance Required for Commercial Applications
  • The NASCLA exam can be used for Commercial in LA. If you have a Commercial License you can submit the Residential Application for the license. Based on having the Commercial License they will grant you the Residential License.
  • No Experience Requirements for the Commercial Applicant
